Fox McLean Stage

Century City, California

The latest in a series of projects on the Fox movie lot, going back to the 1996 Newman Scoring Stage, nonzero\architecture has completed the Barbara McLean Mix Stage.

Placed in a former high-density storage and administrative space in the historic building, the studio measures about 500 sf net and is equipped with an 18’ wide screen.

Named after the groundbreaking film editor Barbara McLean, the stage adds to the collection of dubbing theaters named after the famous directors Howard Hawks, John Ford and Robert Wise in the same building.

Featuring a Meyer Bluehorn system for Dolby Atmos Cinema and Home Theater formats, as well as 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound monitoring, the room is also equipped with a dual Avid S6 console and a wide and generous producer’s desk.

A client lounge down the hall from the theater allows for playback in a calibrated home theater setting with a direct feed from the mixing stage.

Technical support for the stage is provided from an adjacent machine room and the digital projector is located over the entrance hallway.

‘Fantastic news, I am incredibly happy how this room has turned out!  Hard to remember it was the vault not that long ago!

Congrats to entire team… it’s a great addition to The Sound Department
