2003 U2 DOCKLANDS TOWER COMPETITION, DUBLIN, IRELAND
An open international competition was held for the design of a mixed-use high-rise tower in the Dublin Docklands. The program called for residential and commercial uses, as well as for an allotted space for a studio for the band U2 on the two top floors.
The dynamic shapes of intertwined leaning towers and a floating base address the iconic location of the building at the entrance to the docks. Hanging gardens serve the residential and commercial uses and provide greenery and fresh air.
